Day Nineteen - Fairbanks and the North Pole

I woke about 8am after my lateness getting to bed.  Breakfast is between 8am and 10am, so I took a leisurely shower and sorted my rats nest of a bag into some sort of order.  We had to bring a duffle to make them easier to pack into the vehicles, which works for stowing bags, but with one big empty space, it becomes a jumble in no time at all and you can't find anything.

Breakfast was good, cheesy scrambled egg with bacon, cereals, a variety of toast and muffins etc.  My only complaint was the coffee was lukewarm.  I must get their earlier tomorrow.

I pottered about for a bit, washed some essentials, and then headed out.  The town of North Pole is a short distance away from Fairbanks, and it has to be done really.

I hate selfies, but I had to on this occasion.
I was amused to see the same toilet paper hoarding is happening in Santa's home too.  Maybe he's stockpiling for Christmas!

Toilet paper shelves empty at the North Pole.  What are the elves going to do ??
And in Fairbanks:

I had a quick look at the souvenir shop in Fairbanks (there is only one that I could find) and then headed out to look at the Ice sculptures.  It would probably be better at night, but I would have to hang around Fairbanks for a few more hours, and I really can't be bothered to do that.  I enjoyed what I saw, and I pretty much had the place to myself, so I could take pictures whatever way I wanted.

Here's some of the ice art.

It was getting on for 6ish and I was hungry, so I swung by the local Macca's for tea.  They were serving take-out only, no dine in, because of Coronavirus.

So our little bubble that we have been travelling around in, hearing about it all going on in the outside world became a reality today.
I also got a message from Meena to say that her flight from SFO to AKL had been delayed while they offloaded two sick passengers.
I headed back to my B & B and sat at the table in the kitchen in the sun, catching up on the blog.  What a mission, it's a nightmare when you get behind, cos it takes ages to catch up.
